Findings of Monitoring and Recommendations relating to 2022-2024 National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security
The report presents the results of the monitoring conducted by the Public Defender’s Office relating to the implementation of the 2022-2024 National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security. The purpose of the monitoring was to assess the implementation of the obligations assumed by the Action Plan and to identify gaps and problems.
The monitoring results demonstrate that the activities for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions were mainly carried out within the framework of internal departmental activity and did not have a positive impact on the quality of life of displaced and conflict-affected women and youth.
Equal participation of women in peace, security and reconciliation processes remains a challenge in Georgia, both at the local and international levels.
Women and youth affected by the conflict continue to face socio-economic challenges, such as limited and/or insufficient access to various state resources and services.
Mechanisms for preventing and responding to violence against women have become more effective, but the need for awareness-raising remains relevant. Women victims of violence often lack sufficient information about services. Stereotypical views and distrust towards law enforcement agencies remain a problem, which makes it difficult to receive support.
We hope that the recommendations developed will help the agencies implementing the national action plan to develop the next national action plan and improve the effectiveness of its implementation.
