On April 24, 2025, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, met with prisoners, including life-sentenced prisoners, in Rustavi Penitentiary Establishment No. 17.

The Public Defender spoke with the administration of the institution about the living conditions of prisoners; inspected the infrastructure, bathrooms, living and shared spaces; received information about the construction ongoing on the territory of the institution.

The Public Defender constantly supervises the state of protection of prisoners' rights in the penitentiary system.
